Innovative and affordable service for the Preventive Conservation monitoring of individual Cultural Artefacts during display, storage, handling and transport

On February 6th and 7th, representatives from KADK, JHI and UPV working on degradation models in canvas paintings (WP2) held a work meeting at UPV.

The meeting was devoted to agree on the materials to be tested and to define the analysis needed. During the two days the researchers also discussed about the scenarios to be tested and their relationship with actual conditions for potential damage. The meeting was also a good occasion to meet researchers from the Dept. of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at UPV working on non-contact optical techniques to measure contour, deformation, vibration and strain on different materials. The meeting was a step ahead in the design of the forthcoming stages of the research which include the preparation of mock-ups to be shipped to KADK and JHI. The shipping will also be a good occasion to test informally the performance of some prototype devices and to check data acquisition during transport.
